Have You Ever Looked at What’s on Your Fruit? 🍋

I have shared this before, but it’s something that genuinely made me stop and think…
Have you ever noticed the labels on oranges and lemons?
Even the ones that say “unwaxed”?
I recently came across packaging that said the peel had been treated with preservatives and included the line:“Not suitable for EU use”
That really made me pause.
Because like most people, I used to assume that if something looked fresh and natural, it probably was. But the reality is, a lot of citrus fruit is treated after harvesting to help it last longer and look better on the shelves.
And here’s the thing even if you’re not eating the peel, it still matters. We handle it, we cut into it, and sometimes the outer layer comes into contact with the inside.
I’m not sharing this to scare anyone or say you have to change what you buy. But for me, it was enough to make a small shift.
Now, I tend to choose organic lemons and oranges. And if they’re not available… we just go without.
Just more awareness is needed for us all.
I think that’s the biggest thing for me these days: being a bit more conscious about what we’re bringing into our homes.
No pressure, no perfection just small, informed choices.
Did you already know about this? Or is it something you’ve never really thought about before?
This is one of my latest shops, if you want to know how I get it cheaper, drop me a message
