Floating into Stillness: A Beautiful Evening of Sound, Water and Essential Oils

Updated: Jul 28

There are some evenings that stay with you long after they've ended, and my recent visit to a floating sound bath at Walhampton School in Lymington was certainly one of them.

Set within the beautiful grounds of Walhampton School, the peaceful surroundings provided the perfect setting to slow down, switch off and reconnect with ourselves. As soon as I arrived, I could feel the calm begin to settle in.

The experience combined the gentle sensation of floating in warm water with the soothing sounds of crystal singing bowls and other therapeutic instruments. As the vibrations travelled through the water, they created a truly immersive experience, allowing both the body and mind to completely relax.

I even got to have a swim, it was so refreshing and certainly very enjoyable.

Before everyone floated off into their sound bath, I was delighted to offer each person a pure doTERRA essential oil to use during the session. Essential oils and sound therapy work beautifully together, and simply inhaling a calming aroma while floating can help encourage deeper relaxation and mindfulness. It was lovely knowing that these beautiful oils were part of everyone's journey into stillness for the evening.

Our sense of smell has a remarkable connection to the brain, particularly the areas responsible for memory and emotion. That's why a simple aroma can transport us to a happy memory, help us feel grounded or encourage a sense of peace. When combined with a deeply relaxing experience such as a floating sound bath, essential oils can gently enhance the overall feeling of wellbeing.

One of my favourite parts of the evening was speaking with people afterwards. It was wonderful to hear how relaxed everyone felt and to chat about the oils they had experienced. Many people were curious to learn more about how pure essential oils can become part of their daily wellbeing routine, whether that's to support restful sleep, reduce feelings of stress, improve focus or simply create moments of calm throughout a busy day.

Events like this remind me why I love sharing natural wellness with others. We live in a world that rarely stops moving, and yet our bodies and minds need regular opportunities to pause, reset and recharge.

Wellness doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it's simply about creating small moments that nourish us—taking a deep breath, listening to calming music, spending time in nature, connecting with others or enjoying the beautiful aroma of a pure essential oil.

Every positive choice we make contributes to our overall health and wellbeing.

I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and made the evening so special, and to the wonderful organisers for creating such a beautiful and welcoming experience. It was a privilege to be part of an event that encouraged people to take time for themselves and discover simple ways to support their emotional and physical wellbeing naturally.

If you've never experienced a floating sound bath, I can highly recommend it. It's an opportunity to completely switch off from the outside world, allow your nervous system to rest and leave feeling lighter, calmer and more refreshed.

And if you'd like to learn more about how doTERRA's pure essential oils can complement practices such as meditation, yoga, breathwork or sound healing, I'd love to chat. These small bottles contain so much more than beautiful aromas—they're wonderful tools that can help support a more mindful and balanced approach to everyday life.

Here's to making more time for stillness, embracing nature's gifts and taking small steps towards better health every single day.
